Fellow Citizens
I would like to welcome you to a new type of campaign for a new type of city. I am asking you all to look at everyone who is running for mayor, analyze the issues and solutions and vote for whomever you believe is best for our city.
I will run an optimistic campaign because I profoundly believe our future is bright. However, we need to make decisions today to ensure Albany embarks on a new course.
I came from The Bronx to attend the University at Albany in 1989. After overcoming adversities no child in America should have to endure, Albany, a little city with a big heart, became my sanctuary of opportunity. It was here where I graduated college and purchased my first home. It was here where I embarked on a great career in information technology. Albany is where I realized the American dream.
However, our city is now on a familiar course. A course cities across the state have taken where crime becomes rampant, schools begin to fail our children, and taxes become uncontrollable. This course is very familiar to me and I want to change it. I do not want our city to become another upstate statistic.
Imagine for a moment if citizens of these cities could go back in time to when things were just beginning to take the wrong turn. Knowing what was coming, what would they have done? I think they would control crime, control their schools, and control their taxes. I believe Albany is at that turning point.
As I embark on this journey, I will be talking about backyard issues with everyone from across the political spectrum. Our differences will pale in comparison to our common goal, a prosperous Albany.
Lets chart a new course for Albany.
